What is Y Factor?
The ‘Y Factor’ is an exciting 15-week National Lottery funded project for young people aged 12 – 25 years old who have a keen interest in music and arts. The ‘Y Factor’ project runs from Thursday 15th February until Thursday 31st May. Our aim is to give a solid opportunity to an individual who at one stage may have considered this sector a future career or just simply interested in the next stages of their talent.
Music has always been popular with the youth so this is considered a prime incentive to take learning more seriously. Priority is given to young people who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

How does it work?
13 artists have been chosen to be a part of the ‘Y Factor’ music album which will go on national release in June of this year. The album will have 15 songs in total but 2 artists will be deemed role models for the others. Role models are important as they can provide sound advice. This advice will come from those who’s been though their struggles, can relate and who they can look up to.
The project will be concluded with a live mini concert on Thursday 31st May at Baggator, 13 All Hollows Road, Easton, Bristol, BS5 0HH
Each artist will:
- Record a song in the SCENT studio
- Be video interviewed and profiled
- Social media profiled (subject to circumstances)
- Perform live on stage in front of 100s of people
- Possible music video (if chosen)
This project will teach the YP’s how to:
- Work to a structure
- Work as a team
- Take responsibility for their own future
- Increase life skills
- Increase social interaction
- Work towards goals and respect the value of education
All the live show proceeds will go towards the further development of youth projects in Second Chance Entertainment (SCENT) community. The partnered record label will donate 50% of the album sales to SCENT, 30% to develop a chosen artist from the album and 20% for admin fees.
We would therefore like to ask your organisation where possible to assist us with your full endeavours in our youth outreach, advertising and promotion of both the album and concert in terms of emails, airtime, your newsletters & social media, flyer / poster space and the occasional use of premises for appearances / performances etc.
